Overview
The hybrid file services topology redesigned around Azure Files and File Sync, so cloud and on-premises file access resolve to one authoritative data set.
Technical challenge
Hybrid file services need a clear answer to where the authoritative copy lives and how it reaches each site. The existing topology needed to be reworked to make that relationship explicit.
Architecture
- 01Azure Files as the cloud file service layer.
- 02Azure File Sync connecting on-premises file servers to the cloud share.
- 03Sync topology designed around site access patterns.
- 04Storage tiering considered alongside cost governance.
Implementation
- Redesigned the hybrid storage topology around Azure Files and File Sync.
- Configured sync relationships between on-premises servers and the cloud share.
- Aligned the design with backup and cost optimisation practice.
Outcome
Hybrid file services run on a redesigned topology with a clear authoritative data set across cloud and on-premises access.
